Why and where the USA needs Turkey

The United States needs Turkey both in the Middle East (Iran, Syria, and Lebanon), where there are voices suggesting that Turkey and Jolani’s Syria could do the job that Israel cannot, and in the highly critical region of Central Asia — especially after Turkey’s major victory over Armenia (where it also acted alongside Israel on the same side, that of Azerbaijan) and the creation of the Zangezur Corridor. This corridor connects Turkey with Azerbaijan and the rest of the “Turkic” Central Asia.In other words, it serves as a wedge in Russia’s backyard and between Russia and China.Turkey is also essential in Europe following the partial or complete withdrawal of the US from the European continent, as well as in North, Central, and Eastern Africa (for both the USA and the EU), in the Gulf monarchies that are looking for powers to balance American “weakness,” in Iraq, and so on.We should not forget that Turkey has now become a significant industrial power, with a strong defense industry, notable technological achievements, and a very young and ambitious population. It also boasts recent and major military successes (in Armenia, Syria, Libya, etc.) and accumulated military experience.Moreover, Turkey has consistently and successfully played both the card of Islamism (Islamic unity) and Turkism since 2002.
