What dream are we seeing in Athens? [Trump’s visit to Ankara for the NATO summit, 7/7/2026] Erdoğan and Trump walking on the blue carpet. Trump stands at the predetermined spot, takes a deep breath, and greets the Turkish soldiers in Turkish: “Merhaba Asker” — and they respond by shouting loudly: “Hooouuu!” Then 4 demonstration planes + 2 more fly low over Trump & Erdoğan. I hope the blue carpet doesn’t symbolize the Mavi Vatan (Blue Homeland), because… it was stepped on from one end to the other… What dream are we seeing in Athens? This beautiful, sweet, stupefying dream with Saviors, both inside and outside the country!

Once again, I see us — when we are inevitably forced to wake up — left with the artfully used complaint of the modern Greek Psorokostaina: the innocent, passive, faithful-to-her-“allies,” “good but honest Greece,” betrayed by the “evil foreigners.” This same dream has been seen so many times that it doesn’t seem to have faded at all! It still has the same hypnotic power. It creates that nice blend of betrayal, inevitability, anger, resignation, and fatalism. It shamelessly washes away the responsibilities of the kotsabasides (local bosses/oligarchs) who mediate the country to whichever allies/protectors are in power at the time — while simultaneously monopolizing… patriotism. Each one swears allegiance to his own foreign patron-country. Once again, no responsibility for what we did, what we do, and what we FAIL to do! But what am I saying? Right now we’re… at war in… Ukraine… Clarification: The modern Greek Psorokostaina is the heavily indebted woman, with a tattoo of despair, whose house is heading for auction — the Iphigenia sacrificed for the economic “miracle” and the salvation of the kotsabasides, with the blood they sucked (and continue to suck) from her through a straw.
